Honda Civic Type R

The Honda Civic Type R is the highest performance version of the Honda Civic made by Honda Motor Company of Japan. It features a lightened and stiffened body, specially adapted engine and upgraded brakes and chassis. Red is also used on the inside to give a special award for sport and to separate it from other Honda models. In Japan, there are a number of make Honda Type R cars where privateers can purchase an off-road type R and compete in a series championship, which is a springboard for many aspiring drivers.

Performance

Engineers have done something miraculous to tame torque steer. Again, they didn't have time carving circles in the asphalt to truly get a clear picture, but based on takeoff alone, there was zero wheel hop, & the steering wheel remained remarkably communicative. The engine is ridiculous. Honda will only say that it's at least 280 horsepower. That seems reasonable, but it also stands to reason that 300 hp is feasible. At 125 mph, the 2015 Civic Type R tells you a lot. I had the briefest of drives in the automobile at Honda's Yorii check track, & from ignition to exiting the pit, the tiny Civic Coupe jumped forward in fourth gear to north of 100 mph. My Japanese minder chided me to cold it for the first lap. as politely, I matted the throttle & sailed toward the 125-mph limiter.
